Why We Chose Happiness

The Happiness Advantage

The Happiness Advantage is one of those books that challenges you to look differently at life.

In 2008 I had a meltdown. The pressures of running businesses; staff management issues and belligerent staff; working seven days a week and being on call seven nights a week; working into the small hours of the morning to satisfy the governments GST obligations; a young family and crying babies combined with extreme financial pressures caught up with me. 2008 was a very dark year for many reasons. For the next two years  I hardly slept. I would stay awake worrying about debt and desperately trying to find a way out of our troubles by writing novels and building internet businesses until I finally collapsed at 3 or 4AM. I was so exhausted I could barely function. A routine medical highlighted the folly of life without sleep and what stress and a misalignment with what is actually important in life can do to you.

Prior to 1543 it was believed that the world was the centre of the universe and that the sun revolved around our planet. In 1543 Nicolas Copernicus introduced a revolutionary theory that the earth revolved around the sun. This paradigm shift eventually changed the way the human race saw the entire universe. Thinking differently can bring tremendous positive change.

For generations we have been told that if we were successful we would be happy and we were led to believe that happiness orbited around success. A fundamental paradigm shift is occurring thanks to the burgeoning field of positive psychology. It has been proven that when we are happy and when our mindset and mood are positive, we are smarter, more motivated and more successful. Happiness is the centre and success revolves around it.

We chose a revolutionary path. We chose to make our veterinary hospital a place that offers a wider experience incorporating some innovative ideas that no veterinary hospital in the world would even contemplate. Check out our facebook site to see what we do differently.
